The Preserve can be accessed from the top from Skyline Blvd. The lower level, located just south of Half Moon Bay, can be accessed from Higgins Canyon Road or Purisima Creek Road. We strongly advise using Purisima Creek Road from Highway 1. Higgins Canyon Road can become a very narrow, steep road with blind curves.

The centerpiece of this 4,711-acre Preserve is Purisima Creek Canyon, with its redwoods, creek, and beautiful foliage. Spectacular views of the coast and Half Moon Bay are visible from the higher points of the preserve. The lower portion, shown in the picture above, is beautiful. The trails are well maintained. The trails can become steep, but are well worth the hike or nature walk. Be carful, though, the trails are multiuse for equestrian, biking and hiking.

Major rating websites rate Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve between 4.5 and 4.8 stars out of 5. We rate it a solid 4.5 stars. It would be higher if they allowed dogs!
